We’re thrilled to invite you to our home for Old World Charm School on Thursday, October 18th at 8:00pm! This fun trio is in town for the Star of the North English Country Dance Weekend – and who could resist the opportunity to host a concert to kick the whole thing off?

Please join Old World Charm School for an entertaining and exciting night of groovy french village dance tunes, elegant English country dance melodies, powerhouse reels, beautiful waltzes, and captivating originals. There will be singing, too! Everything from contemporary french songs with a jazz flair to haunting old Provençal songs to jaunty Québécois call-and-response songs that offer opportunities for audience participation. Outrageous travel stories and tidbits about the traditions from which they draw their inspiration will round out the mix, ensuring the perfect balance of inspiration and humor. Karen Axelrod (Northampton, MA): piano & accordion
Susan Kevra (Nashville, TN): clarinet & vocals
Rachel Bell (Brattleboro, VT): accordion & vocals

Susan Kevra, Karen Axelrod, and Rachel Bell — known collectively as Old World Charm School — are equally at home playing contra dances, English country dances, French dances, and concerts, with Susan switching roles between caller and clarinetist/singer. In concert, the trio presents lively Quebecois songs, mesmerizing French village dance tunes, passionate waltzes, and exciting originals. In a dance setting, their music and calling strikes a delectable balance between energizing and idyllic.
